RICHARDSON - Carl

     RICHARDSON - Carl E., 81, Portage, died June 27, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Sept. 12, 1925, in Portage, son of Carl F. and Mabel R. (Morgan) Richardson. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, James and Milton; and sisters, Pearl Mangus and Dorothy Cordwell. 

   

 

     Survived by wife of 45 years, the former Ruth "Tootsie" Moyer; children, Carol Paterick, Bowie, Md.; Rosemarie Noel, Florida; and Carl, Mount Joy; grandchildren, Robert Noel, Joe and David Kriss, Theresa Davis, Danielle and Matthew Noel and Kelsy Richardson; and five great-grandchildren. Brother of Clyde, Portage; George, Mount Union; and Donald, Columbiana, Ohio; special friends, Edwin Soule and Arthur Flynn; and the guys at Twin Lakes. 

     Member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Life member of Portage Volunteer Fire Company, John R. Moyer Post 460 American Legion and Jamestown Rod & Gun Club. Received his 45-year pin as a forest fire warden with the Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry. Former member the Summerfest Committee. Friend of Critchon-McCormick Park. 

     He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. Member of the Tuesday Night Maple Crest Golf League. Former Boy Scout leader and Cub Scout Act 15 leader, and enjoyed volunteering at the Portage Station Museum. He retired from Sani-Dairy and was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. 

     Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Jean H. Kinley Funeral Home, Portage, where service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, the Rev. Richard P. Howe officiating. Interment, Prospect Cemetery. Military graveside rites by combined veterans organizations of Portage. 

    In lieu of flowers, the family asks contributions be made to Critchon-McCormick Park (Portage Parks and Recreation, Portage PA 15946) or Portage Area Historical Society (PAHS, P.O. Box 45, Portage, Pennsylvania 15946).
